Postcards

The Museum Postcard collection spans from the early 1900s to the late 1990s and covers a wide variety of topics, from rinks and events to prolific skaters and animals. Each postcard is unique to its time and place.

The postcards in our collection often demonstrate how time altered the experience of skating.

From rinks that have vanished to the evolution of skating attire, a singular postcard in the Museum's collection offers a chance to see the distinct skating experiences the everyday person, as well as the competitive skater, wanted to re-experience as they collected or sent postcards of specific topics and moments in time to their peers.

Postcard content reflects their era.
